The United States Tennis Association Florida (USTA) has their offices in Daytona Beach, Florida. History states that a small group got the ball rolling in 1949 with a very small budget and just a handful of tennis enthusiasts! Through the years, tennis has become synonymous with names like Althea Gibson, Billie Jean King, Bjorn Borg, Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi, Martina Navratilova, Monica Seles and more recently Andy Roddick, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Venus and Serena Williams. These tennis greats have made the game of tennis more popular than ever.
The USTA Florida now has more than 600 volunteers that work alongside the professional staff throughout the state where the budget is now over $2.6 million dollars! It goes without saying that USTA Florida is preparing for continued growth due to increases in population and the nonstop popularity of tennis in Florida. The USTA Florida's goal is to promote and develop tennis in the state of Florida, a job they are doing well! There are a variety of tennis leagues in Daytona Beach as well as tournaments for children, adults and seniors.
